Kids Ski FREE
You can learn to ski or snowboard at any age, but kids have the advantage of being flexible, nimble and relatively fearless. So getting them on the slopes early and often is not only a great way for them to enjoy winter, but learn a lifelong sport.
While skiing and snowboard have the cache of being expensive sports to learn, a number of “Passport” programs are offered for school children to learn to ski or snowboard throughout the U.S. These programs vary from state to state, but offer a free, or low-cost way to get kids onto the slopes.
Colorado Vail Resorts Epic SchoolKids Colorado Pack provides four free days of skiing or riding at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Keystone. In addition, pack holders receive one free first-timer lesson and rental during the month of January as part of Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month.
Colorado Ski Country USA's 5th Grade Passport Program provides participants with three free days of skiing or snowboarding at 20 resorts. Colorado Ski Country USA's 6th Grade Passport Program provides participants with four days of skiing or snowboarding at 20 Colorado resorts for only $105.
The First Class Program allows 5th graders the opportunity to learn to ski or snowboard as part of Learn to Ski and Snowboard Month. Children who have neither experienced skiing nor snowboarding, and are enrolled in the 5th Grade Passport Program, also have the opportunity to receive one free beginner lesson and rental package.
Idaho
Ski Idaho is offers the 5th and 6th Grade Ski or Ride Free Passport Program to children in the 5th and 6th graders from any state. The Passport allows students to ski or ride three free days, and includes special deals on equipment rentals and lessons at all 18 participating Idaho resorts.
Maine
Whether you're new to winter sports or a seasoned "pro," the WinterKids Passport for 5th, 6th and 7th graders offers free and discountedtickets, lessons, and rentals at 50 areas throughout Maine. In addition to downhill and cross country skiing and snowboarding, the WinterKids Passport also includes snow tubing and ice skating.
Michigan
The Cold is Cool program provides 4th and 5th graders up to three free lift tickets or trail passes at 27 participating Michigan ski areas, plus additional discounts on the slopes and in Michigan ski shops. In order for 4th & 5th graders to use the free lift or trail pass coupons, a paying adult must accompany them.
New Hampshire
Ski New Hampshire’s 4th and 5th grade Snowsports Passport includes one free lift ticket and cross country trail pass from each of the 33 ski areas in New Hampshire, as well as savings on lessons and equipment for 4th and 5th graders, and savings on lift tickets and trail passes for parents and siblings.
New York
The ISKINY 3rd & 4th Grade Ski & Ride Passport offers free lift tickets with an adult lift ticket purchase. The program also offers discounted opportunities for kids, and adults, to learn to ski or snowboard.
Pennsylvania
The Pennsylvania Ski Area Association Snowpass Program is available to all 4th and 5th graders. Participants receive a passport booklet with their picture, plus coupons valid for discounted and free lift tickets at each of the 21 participating resorts when they ski or board with a paying adult. The booklet also includes a Learn to Ski or Snowboard package deals for kids and adults.
Utah
The Ski Utah 5th Grade Passport offers three free days of skiing or snowboarding at each of Utah's 15 resorts. The 6th Grade Passport offers one free day skiing or riding all 15 resorts Utah resorts. The 5th and 6th Grade Passport also includes special deals on equipment rentals, lessons and other cool activities for 5th and 6th graders and their families.
Vermont
Ski Vermont believes that winter in Vermont is a way of life, and an opportunity to get outdoors, to be healthy and active, and share amazing experiences with friends and family. Ski Vermont’s 5th Grade Passport offers up to three free days of skiing or riding at all 16 Vermont resorts.
Washington
Ski NW Rockies offers the 5th Grade Ski or Ride Free Passport Program to all 5th graders! The Passport allows students to ski or ride three free days and includes special deals on equipment rentals and lessons at each of Ski NW Rockies participating resorts.
