Spring finally starts to arrive along Minnesota's Arrowhead by the end of March. Located along the shores of Lake Superior there’s reason to celebrate when it finally does.
Lutsen Mountains is planning a celebration Saturday, March 29, with Spring Carnival. The weekend of March 21-24 celebrates the music scene along Minnesota’s Arrowhead with the DuLutsen North Music & Ski Festival.
There’s a thriving homegrown music scene that’s developed in the North Shore’s gateway city Duluth. Lutsen is hosting a four-day showcase of the city’s finest musicians at Papa Charlie’s, and, of course some of the best skiing and riding in recent years. Lift, lodging and concert packages are available. Great music at night and champagne powder to rip during the day, what more can you ask.
Spring Carnival brings costume contests, family fun races with great prizes, fireworks and lots of live entertainment. The weekend theme is a giant deck party. Grab your beach gear, crazy costumes, snowsports gear and head north to Lutsen.
Lift and lodging packages are available. There are $139 getaways with two nights lodging and two days of skiing/riding. Stay and play for three or more days and get your lift and lodging half-price midweek and one day of your lift and lodging free on weekends.
Giants Ridge, in Minnesota's Mesabi Iron Range, is offering attractive season ending lift and lodging specials and some of the best March snow conditions in years. Midweek two adults enjoy a night’s stay in either the slopeside Lodge at Giants Ridge or nearby Villas, including lift tickets, starting from $129 per person, per night.
Spend one night and ski or ride two days for $93 per person. Ski or ride Sunday night, spend the night and enjoy the slopes all day Monday from $77 per person. The Ridge, with the great season, is planning to stay open through April 13.
Spirit Mountain is hosting Spring Break Luau Saturday, March 15. Events include cardboard box races, barrel jumping, furniture races (must be a Duluth thing), and the infamous slush pond. Spectators have as much fun as contestants. Spring hours, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., begin March 24 and run through the end of the season, tentatively scheduled for end of the month.
Wild Mountain hosts its last Friends and Family Day Saturday, March 15. An adult lift ticket is $33, child (6-12) is $24 and rentals are $13. The Never Ending Lesson is free and you can proceed through as many skill stations as you can handle. A spring break special, good Monday-Friday through March 28, has daily adult lift tickets for $24, students (6-17) $19 and rental packages for $20. The Monster Slush Fest and costume contest is Saturday, March 29.
