Great spring skiing conditions kick off April at Lutsen Mountains and the famed Mountain Meltdownfor the final full week of the season, April 1-11, and they guarantee at least 40 runs open into April.

The Lake Superior microclimate creates great skiing conditions throughout the month. Daytime temperatures normally in the 40s, long sunny days, soft corn snow, and a season worth of snowpack that lasts until May.

“Our guarantee is simple for the Meltdown,” marketing director Jim Vick told SnoCountry. “Our coastal Lake Superior climate keeps us 20 degrees cooler than points south, extending our season well into April. Make your reservation, assured that you can expect the conditions that draw you to Lutsen; long runs and a variety of terrain. If we cannot meet our goal of 40 or more runs open, you may cancel your reservation without any obligation. It's some of the best spring conditions in North America.”

During Mountain Meltdown two nights lodging and two-day lift tickets start from $129 per person based on quad Occupancy. Extend your stay to three or more days and you also get free ski rental included. Unfortunately due to Covid restrictions in the state of Minnesota, they will not be including the outdoor musical lineup that normally accompanies the weekend.

Mid-America's largest ski resort is planning on staying open through the month with Last Tracks Weekends taking place April 17-18, 24-25, and May 1-2. Lift tickets will be $48 per adult, per day. And, if you haven't used your Indy Pass lift-tickets at Lutsen Mountains this season, that's also an option.

Spring skiing with views of Lake Superior from all four mountains that make up Lutsen Mountains terrain is something special you won't find anyplace else around the Great Lakes. It makes the perfect ending to a Midwest ski season.
