Hannah Kearney Olympic gold medalist Hannah Kearney (Norwich, CT) dueled her way through four rounds to take the top spot for the 14th consecutive time in Saturday’s Visa Freestyle International at Deer Valley, Utah. Heather McPhie (Bozeman, MT) came in third.

UPDATE: Three-time Olympic medalist Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, CA) attacked a gnarly Garmisch super G that forced 14 racers off course to win her first Audi FIS Alpine World Cup of the season. The victory, Mancuso's career sixth, completed a U.S. Ski Team weekend sweep following Lindsey Vonn's (Vail, CO) historic victory in the opening downhill. Vonn caught an edge and did not finish the super G.

ClarkASPEN, Colo. -- Ten years removed from her first Winter X Games gold medal, Kelly Clark reminded everyone Friday night why she will go down as the greatest snowboard halfpipe rider in history.

Lindsey Jacobellis didn't grow up in Telluride, Colo. But her victory Friday in the USANA Snowboardcross Cup was like winning in her hometown. Over the past three years, the Telluride resort and community have welcomed U.S. Snowboarding's SBX riders for an annual 10-day camp and World Cup. 

 

Nick Baumgartner came in third for the men. Baumgartner and Jonathan Cheever took second in the team SBX event and Jacobellis and Callan Cythlook-Sifsof took third for the women.

More than 250 athletes from over 20 nations took to the massive 22-foot halfpipe at Copper Mountain to kickoff the winter action sports season with the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix. It marked the opening of the 16th season and showcased the full evolution of winter sports from that day in Decemer 1996 at Sugarloaf.
