Big Sky Joins Mountain Collective

Another 5,800 of skiable terrain and 4,300 of vert can be added to the Mountain Collective portfolio as Montana’s Big Sky Resort has joined the multi-mountain ski and snowboard pass.

The addition of Big Sky makes it 11 resorts in North America, three in Canada, and one each in New Zealand and Australia in the Collective family. Plus, pass-holders who hop an international flight get to ski and ride at Valle Nevado in Chile, Chamonix in France, and Niseko United in Japan.

In its sixth year, the Mountain Collective was the brainchild of Aspen-Snowmass, Jackson Hole, Squaw Valley-Alpine Meadows and Alta in response to the growing peripatetic nature of U.S. skiers and riders, and to the consolidation by Vail Resorts and its Epic Pass.

“Big Sky is an ideal fit for the Mountain Collective,” says Christian Knapp of Aspen Skiing Company. “It has all the attributes we look for in a Collective-worthy destination. A big, burly mountain experience combined with an authentic mountain community. We are thrilled to offer a lineup of resorts for 2018-19 that will resonate with our core passholders and constitute the very best mountain experiences in their respective regions.”

Mountain Collective pass-holders get two free days at any of the 16 resorts, plus half-off additional days and deals on lodging. No blackouts apply, and if the powder is pounding down after two days, you get one free extra day at one resort of your choice during the season.

As of March 1, the price for the Mountain Collective pass is $409. A kid’s pass is just a buck if bought with an adult pass. They must be purchased online or by phone. Then, take a printout of the confirmation to any of the ticket windows at participating resorts to get the pass to hang around your neck.

By the numbers, the Mountain Collective now give access to more than 55,000 skiable acres, 359 lifts, and more than 2,500 trails.
