Unseasonably mild evening temps have prompted Angel Fire Resort to extend skiing and riding under the lights for the rest of the season.
Everyone who purchases a day lift ticket at the northern New Mexico resort gets a bonus four hours of free skiing and ‘boarding on Fridays, Saturdays and holiday nights through the remainder of the season, ending March 25.
The 50-acre Easy Street slope that is in full view of the base area will be the venue for expanded evening skiing and riding. When the lifts shut down for the day, the chairlift on the bottom slope resumes spinning 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The lit area includes the Night Rider Terrain Park.
In addition, Angel Fire initiated a Sunset Special private lesson program. One- and two-hour lessons can be had for up to four people; a six-person lesson must be taken for two hours, according to the resort. Lessons kick off right at 5 p.m. at the base of Easy Street.
New and ready-to-improve skiers and riders can bracket their day with an Early Bird lesson at 9 a.m., spend the day honing skills, and then firm up technique with a Sunset Special at the end of the day.
For those who just want to ski or ride under the stars, a night skiing-snowboarding ticket costs $24.
